The Learning to CARE Institute is a social venture to promote, facilitate, and improve volunteering in Lebanon, the Arab region, and beyond. We have provided training and consulting in Saudi Arabia and Qatar over the past year, including Training of Trainers on volunteer management and recruitment, training of school personnel to help them develop effective school service programs, and training of youth in volunteering and the planning and implementation of service projects.
Our non-profit work includes serving as the Country Partner for Global Youth Service Days in Lebanon. We are currently promoting two special campaigns that can be GYSD service projects, or projects organized by any age group at any time of year:
- Make the Cut Campaign: A Lebanese program to collect natural hair to make wigs for cancer patients
- Little Free Libraries: A program to establish small free neighborhood libraries to promote reading and literacy – the program is global, but the implementation would be local.
Our Director, Dr. Patricia Nabti, is the Regional Representative of the International Association for Volunteer Effort (IAVE) for the Arab Nations. She is actively planning for the Second IAVE Regional Conference for the Arab Nations, which is scheduled to take place in Muscat, November 23-25, 2013.
